These words embodied exactly how I felt. I could have written them myself. The song became my mantra for that period of my life. So, I got tattooed — a lot — and started a new band. I also started writing more. I have a degree in journalism; you’d never know it, because I’ve done fuck all with it. It’s been nearly five years since I got that degree. It feels like a lifetime ago.

Looking back now, it’s obvious this was more than just a child’s overactive imagination. It was a coping mechanism, a sanctuary, a way to navigate emotions I didn’t yet have the language for. I didn’t know it at the time, but this habit—would eventually grow legs of its own.

Most of the time, I don’t even know what to write about. There’s so much happening—both around me and in the wider world—that it’s overwhelming. Constant sensory overload, with no idea what to do with all the information being thrown at me

I’m still figuring it out. My recent autism diagnosis hasn’t solved everything, but it’s taken a huge weight off my shoulders. It’s helped me make sense of years of confusion, self-doubt, and exhaustion. And maybe most importantly, it’s encouraged me to be gentler with myself.

What started as harmless teenage rebellion morphed into a coping mechanism—a way to navigate the awkward chaos of coexisting with my fellow teens. It became *my thing.*

Beyond the Finish Line: The True Motivation Behind My Runs

The epiphany hit hard – what if running was the antidote to my struggles? The idea of training for the London Marathon emerged as a potentially life-altering journey. I conjured up the iconic montage from Rocky 2, envisioning myself as the gritty protagonist, pounding the pavement as Rocky and the triumphant contender crossing the finish line of the greatest race on Earth.
