FAR OUT HARDCORE

Far out hardcore! I struggle to find three words more fitting to capture the essence of Buffalo rockers Spaced. Set for release on March 22nd, Spaced's second album marks their debut on the esteemed Revelation Records. Securing a spot on Revelation Records is the ultimate achievement in the Hardcore realm. Perhaps not in financial terms, but in terms of scene credibility and respect, it's unparalleled. Revelation boasts a catalogue brimming with timeless Hardcore classics. The list is extensive from Judge's 'Bringin' It Down' to Gorilla Biscuits' 'Start Today' and the iconic 'Break Down The Walls' by Youth Of Today. These records form the backbone of any self-respecting Hardcore fan's collection, particularly if one identifies with the straight-edge lifestyle.
Let's delve into Spaced, the band itself. Originating from Buffalo, New York, they've been on an intensive touring schedule since their inception in 2021. Undeniably, this quintet from Buffalo has made a global impact on Hardcore with their psychedelic-tinged groove. It's astounding how proficient they are, considering their relatively brief existence of three years! Their '21 demo is a certified banger—four tracks, barely six minutes long, delivering a blend of spacey, socially conscious Hardcore. They're returning to UK shores at the end of the month, ready to conquer ten shows in ten days in support of their upcoming album 'This Is All We Ever Get'. Talk about a relentless work ethic! Their latest single from the upcoming album, 'Rat Race', dropped just over a month ago and has already garnered close to 20,000 streams on Spotify. The single encapsulates everything synonymous with the Spaced sound—radical riffs, catchy hooks, punk as fuck vocals, and fist-pumping gang choruses. Safe to say, the Hardcore community eagerly awaits March 22nd.
I highly recommend catching one of their shows during their upcoming UK tour if you can. I caught them last time they graced the UK in the summer of '23 at the New X Inn, supporting Buggin'. Surprisingly, the venue wasn't packed, despite Buggin' riding the hype train at the time. Admittedly, it was a school night. Nevertheless, I left the show nursing two cracked ribs acquired during Spaced's set, spending the next two months in agony rowing boats up and down a river all day. In 2024, it feels like the UKHC scene has caught on—we're aboard the Spaced hype train. I foresee packed venues when Spaced hits town this time around. We're witnessing the future of Hardcore—don't sleep on this band! Spaced will share the stage with rising UK bands Shooting Daggers and Clobber. Having seen Clobber and Shooting Daggers numerous times, I can vouch they'll blow your socks off.
